Brains, banter, and brilliant generosity were on full display at the Metropolitan Club in Bushey for our charity quiz night on Wednesday 16 September. Thanks to an incredible turn-out, the evening raised over £1,500 to support vital projects across West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Twenty-five teams, including two of our very own staff teams, The Bushey Babes and Urine Trouble, filled the venue for some fiercely friendly competition. Whilst The Greater Good, led by Lynn McGrane, Unit Administrator in the Intensive Care Unit, took home first place, the victory belonged to the incredible generosity of our community through entry fees, heads and tails, and the raffle.
Explaining the inspiration behind their winning name, Lynn McGrane, pictured third from the right alongside Alison Rosen, CEO of West Herts Hospitals Charity, and the winning team, shared:
“The Greater Good is our usual team name from when we do the Thursday quiz downstairs at the Metropolitan Bushey. It is from the film Hot Fuzz and, as big Cornetto Trilogy fans, we thought it worked well with the venue being the old Met Police Club.”
Alison Rosen added:
“It was a wonderful evening filled with fantastic community spirit and friendly rivalry. We are so grateful to everyone who came along and supported the event so generously. Every pound raised makes a real difference to our patients and staff across the Trust.”
Raffle and Fundraising Highlights
The event was a resounding success, raising over £1,500 to fund vital projects across the trust. The final total was boosted by fantastic ticket sales alongside a raffle with amazing prizes and ‘heads and tails’ game. Congratulations to Catherine, who won the headline raffle prize: a voucher for a Gordon Ramsay restaurant!
