We recently saw firsthand the impact of donor generosity with the purchase of a portable echo machine for our cardiology department. This life-changing equipment allows consultants to make immediate assessments for patients with potential cardiac issues, leading to quicker discharges and better patient flow.
Dr. Michael Koa-Wing, our lead consultant cardiologist, shares:
Since we received the portable echo machine funded by our hospital charity, we have already seen an impact on how we look after patients admitted to hospital with potential cardiac issues. The ability for the consultant to make an immediate rapid initial assessment with the scanner has already led to quicker discharges from hospital and allowed our physiologists to concentrate their time on patients who need more detailed scans on the wards.
