Bingo Night raises £1,590 for West Herts Hospitals

The local community came together on Thursday 16 July 2026 for an evening of fun, laughter, and generous giving at The Red Lion Pub in Watford. The sell-out Charity Bingo Night raised £1,590.00 for our Caring for Generations appeal.

Hosted by Radiographic Department Assistant Grant Proudfoot, who certainly stood out on the night in his gold outfit, the evening brought together 80 local residents, hospital staff, and supporters. Grant gave the traditional bingo calls an NHS spin, tying numbers to fascinating NHS facts and figures throughout the game.

Guests enjoyed a warm welcome, alongside a complimentary buffet provided by the team at The Red Lion Pub. The action-packed schedule kept attendees entertained from start to finish, offering chances to win prizes for both a line and a full house. In addition to the bingo, guests took part in a grand raffle featuring prizes such as Watford FC tickets, Met Bushey tickets, and a voucher for Nando’s in Watford. The evening ended with an energetic game of Heads and Tails.

Alison Rosen, Chief Executive Officer of West Herts Hospitals Charity, said:

“The event was a huge success, and the whole night went brilliantly from start to finish. It was an evening filled with fun, fantastic prizes, and wonderful community spirit, and we were delighted to see everyone come together to raise an incredible £1,590.00 for West Herts Hospitals. I would like to extend a huge thank you to Grant Proudfoot for hosting such a fantastic night, as well as Simon Woods and the team at The Red Lion Pub for hosting us, providing a fantastic buffet, and taking such great care of everyone. All proceeds from the evening are going directly towards our Caring for Generations appeal, supporting key projects across West Herts Hospitals.”
