Watford FC legends and the local community came together to support maternity bereavement services at Watford General Hospital in memory of Hudson Lawson.
Local legends gathered to celebrate the success of a raffle organised by Rhiannon Lawson. Rhiannon, whose son Hudson passed away, has focused on fundraising to support families navigating pregnancy and baby loss.
The “Horns 4 Hudson” raffle raised over £1,700. The proceeds were split between West Herts Hospitals Charity and the My WiSH Charity. Our charity received a donation of £855.86.
Cheque Presentation
The cheque presentation took place on Saturday 18 April 2026. Watford FC legends attended to show their support. Former Watford FC player Luther Blissett presented the cheque on behalf of Rhiannon. He was joined by fellow icons Nigel Gibbs and Filippo Galli.
The event also received support from Jim Simmons, Jerry Ladell, and Anil from the East Anglian and Norfolk Hornets.
Supporting Care at Watford General
The funds donated to our charity will support maternity and bereavement services at Watford General Hospital. These donations allow the hospital to provide services that NHS funding alone does not cover, such as:
- Memory Boxes: Providing parents with keepsakes.
- The Rose Room: Maintaining a private space for families to stay together.
- Support Resources: Providing books for siblings and tools for hand and foot casting.
The Journey to Bruges
The fundraising continues with the “Cycle4Good” challenge in July 2026. The team will complete a 320km cycling expedition from Cambridge to Bruges.
Over three days, the cyclists will travel to Harwich, cross to the Netherlands, and ride through Belgium. This ride aims to honour the memory of Hudson and support families during times of loss.
