Our incredible Ambassador, Anna Filbey, has swapped her football boots for a parachute, leaping from more than 10,000 feet to raise vital funds for West Herts Hospitals.
The Watford FC Women’s midfielder took on the challenge on Saturday 20 June 2026, despite a fear of heights, to support our Caring for Generations appeal.
Anna has already raised more than £1,500. All donations will go towards refurbishing the isolation rooms on the Starfish children’s ward at Watford General Hospital.
The daredevil challenge capped off a period of celebration for Anna, who recently helped the Golden Girls clinch the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division title and secure promotion back to the Women’s Championship.
Despite her triumphs on the pitch, stepping out of an aircraft was an entirely different test. Ahead of the jump, Anna admitted she was completely terrified, but her motivation lay with the young patients at Watford General.
Speaking after her successful landing, Anna said:
“It was absolutely terrifying, but an amazing experience. Stepping out of that plane was completely out of my comfort zone, and I certainly have not conquered my fear of heights, but knowing it was for the Starfish children’s ward kept me focused.
“Hospitals can be incredibly stressful places, particularly for young patients who are isolated due to illness, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the appeal so far.”
Transforming Care on the Starfish Ward
Children admitted to the Starfish ward isolation rooms are often seriously unwell and have compromised immune systems, meaning they must stay confined to their rooms 24 hours a day, sometimes for weeks on end.
Currently, these clinical rooms can feel stark and uninviting. The funds raised by Anna will help turn these side rooms into brighter, calmer, and more engaging spaces. The planned refurbishments include:
- Vibrant, child-friendly décor and new flooring.
- New televisions and improved storage for personal belongings.
- Softer, adjustable lighting to create a calming atmosphere.
- Comfortable beds for parents, ensuring they can stay close to their children.
A Strong Partnership
Anna has supported West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since becoming a Charity Ambassador in May 2025.
